Schmiedmann Sweden developing own supercharger kit.
As the motorsport season is in the summer we can focus on projects in the winter. In spring 2009 we release a complete bolt-on supercharger kit to E36 M3 3,0 for sale in our shop. 

Background:
Since we opened our shop in Sweden we have had a lots of requests for Supercharger kits to the E36 M3.

None of our distributors has any kit for this model so since more and more people asked for it, we figured it was better to do this on our own.

Stage 1 = 400HP
At first we are going to make a Stage 1 kit and boost about 0,5bar. Original the M3 3,0 has 286hp and with our Stage 1 it will be about 400hp. When the first kit is done we can present exact numbers of HP / Nm. Stage 2 will be with intercooler and a boost on about 0,7bar. Calculated power with Stage 2 = about 450hp.

Will there be a Stage 3?
Whether we will develop a Stage 3 is not certain yet. If we will make Stage 3 it won’t be a bolt-on kit available in the web-shop. Stage 3 requires that we do the installation. It would be including new pistons, connection rods and a lot of more modification on the engine. We will increase the boost even more and the power will be over 500hp.

Supercharger project goes turbo

Remember the supercharged 325 E36 that we have been working on for a long time?
When we finally got the car running we also discovered that the Supercharger wasn’t big enough to gain the boost that were required. We need to boost 1,5 – 2 bars to reach 600hp which is our goal.
A bigger supercharger is not possible because the space is not enough so the solution: Turbo. 

Schmiedmann has made a few supercharged cars but no turbo charged.
But we have our own made turbo manifolds so we figured that it was time to do a real turbo project.So now we are rebuilding the car again but it sounds like more work than it really is. Lucky for us the most parts can be kept where they are right now so we only have to change a few things.

Why not turbo from the beginning?
It’s a matter of taste really, and when this project started we wanted to build car made for track and also street driving.
So we chose supercharger instead of turbo because we wanted the quick response and a more easy increasing boost pressure that you get from a supercharger.
With a turbo you get a short delay from the moment you press the pedal until the boost pressure is up.
But with time the plans changed and now the goal is a full racing car that should still be legal on the street.
With a race-car you drive on high rpm all the time so that the boost-pressure is only when driving on high rpm doesn’t matter anymore.

What about the rest of the car?
As this is going to be a car build for track driving the engine is just a small piece that has to build in the right way to gain fast lap-times.
The rest of the car is still left to rebuild.
The planes are so far to start with the weight.
The weight are the most important when building a race car.
Suspension are also very important so that’s the next step. 

E46 330CI gets Rieger frontspoiler and sideskirts mounted

Here you can see the old dull frontspoiler being dismounted.
The new fine front spoiler - which is a little different from the traditional M-tech spoiler - is lying here, painted and ready to be mounted.
Now the 300CI is again ready for captivating the street with a fine new smart front spoiler and a set of side skirts. (unfortunately, we had to leave the tape on a couple of hours after it had left the garage.)

E36 compact gets EVO II sport mirrors mounted

Here the old mirrors are being dismounted by our mechanic and the new lie ready for mounting.
The Evo II sport mirrors have now been mountede on the E36 (properly the first E36 compact in the streets of Cph with Sport mirrors Evo II).

New sport rear silencer under development
