ESS supercharger system ready for installation |
Work begins, the original intake manifold is removed. |

Now showing the intake manifold removed. |
Belt drive on the waterpump alternator is removed.
|
Here is the compresor from ESS. |
|
|
|
Bracket with pulley placed on the compressor. |
The compressor can be mounted directly on the engine block using the bracket. |

|
|
Here is the original injection nozzles. |
The ESS supercharger kit, comes with "larger" injection nozzles. It's the white ones in the picture. Because of the additional air generated by the compressor, the engine needs more fuel for the combustion. The new injectors are configured to deliver the amount of fuel as required by the compressor-set. |

The original intake manifold is replaced by an ESS intake manifold in stainless steel coated with carbon. |
During the installation of ESS carbon coated intake manifold. |

The compressor is connected to the intake manifold. |
Crankcase ventilation and idle sensor ar mounted. |

Here space is made for the radiator to the water-cooled "intercooler", which is integrated in the intake manifold. |
The water pump is mounted. |

The M3 had previously been fitted with a sports air intake system, where the air was led into the inlet through an air intake at the bottom of the front spoiler. Now the sports air filter is moved directly to the air intake. |
|
|
|
With the help of a water pump, the coolant is passed through the coolers and into the intake manifold where the air from the compressor will be cooled down additionally. |

The customer had previously fitted BMW Performance sports exhausts with Schmiedmann X-pipe. The customer thought it made too much noise and had the original x-pipes put back on. But the customer still wanted a bit more sound, so we combined the original X-pipe with our Schmiedmann X-pipe, which gave more sound as the customer wanted, without too much noise. |
Here is the original catalytic converters welded to Schmiedmann X-pipe. The tubes were wrapped in Power Wrap requested by the customer, to minimize sound / resonance. |

Results from the dyno
Original: 364,3 BHP / 367,9 NM
With ESS compressor: 541,3 BHP / 492,7 NM

Video of the M3 on the dyno |
(Note: M models provide Unfortunately differnet ratings, our experience is not what they are given to M3'en declared to 420HP and the outside as you can see only 364.3 HK - and an E39 M5 indicated to 400HP provide example also rarely 370HK even if the car is in perfect condition). |
