Can you revive a classic BMW tuning part and improve it in detail?
Our answer is YES! and that is exactly what have been done in this case.

There was once a very effective M52 tuning intake manifold from German Schrick on the market, and also an Alpina M52 tuning intake manifold, but these legendary tuning parts are unfortunately long gone and almost impossible to find used.
The next best solution to unlock the potential of your M52 engine has so far been to replace the original restrictive standard M52 intake manifold with the larger M50 intake manifold from its predecessor, which however had to be modified a lot to fit the M52 engine. Amongst other things the M50 manifold had to be cut open in the bottom of the plenum in order to glue on the adapter plate from the M52 intake that holds the connectors for the crankshaft ventilation, the idle regulator, the vacuum line for the vacuum regulator on the fuel rail etc. The fuel rail also had to be modified and installed with adapters - the same goes for the throttle housing etc. All in all a lot of headaches – a lot of work and big risk for leaks.

There probably aren't many people who have fitted an M50 intake manifold to an M52 engine who haven't been tired of all the DIY solutions and different adapters for the M50 intake manifold, leaks, broken adapters, glue that doesn't hold, etc.
But there has been no way around a rebuilt M50 intake manifold if you wanted to get more power out of your M52 engine, until now!

At Schmiedmann we know all these challenges and have therefore got developed a cast tuning aluminum intake manifold specially for the M52 engine and even taken it to the "next level", and we have finally succeeded in lifting the legacy of the legendary Schrick and Alpina intake manifolds.
Small but precise optimizations make the Schmiedmann S-Tech. intake manifold an even better upgrade than its predecessors.
Annoying cardboard gaskets have been replaced with high-quality, long-lasting rubber gaskets – just like on the original intake manifold.
Our M52 intake manifold is cast from aluminum and then CNC machined. The flow channels are widened to the outside for maximum flow, the sealing surfaces are flat-milled and the grooves are precisely machined. The plenum is then closed with a CNC-milled cover made of solid aluminum. Here too, we have replaced the cardboard gaskets with rubber gaskets.

As an example, our test car, an E36 328i M52, which was equipped with our Schmiedmann S-Tech sports intake manifold, Schmiedmann sport exhaust manifold and custom software (chip tuning) and of course a sports air filter, showed 231.6 hp on the dyno.
